GSI Meet 7 Results

Note Regarding Results for swimmers 10 years and Under

At the recent GSI Association Meeting, delegates from clubs voted favourably to adopt the SVI Rule Tolerance Policy regarding swimmers aged 10 & under.  The guidelines are more stringent than the policy which had previously been adopted by GSI – that is, swimmers who demonstrated disqualifiable stroke or competition errors who are aged 9 & under received a warning only.  They were awarded ribbons and their times were included in the national data base and in the Jx Program.

The new regulations offered some scope, which GSI has adopted: that is, the policy will apply to all swimmers 10 & under rather than to whole events and swimmers who demonstrate disqualifiable stroke or competition errors who are aged 10 & under will still be eligible for ribbons and places.  However, their times cannot be included in the National Data Base or used in the Jx Program.  You will note that swimmers for whom a yellow DQ slip is written will appear in the results – allowing them to note their times for personal improvement – but their times appear on the results with an ‘X’ next to them, indicating that they were ‘warned’.  The GSI Entries officer retains the slips for processing, but these will be available for collection at the next GSI meet.

This Rule Tolerance Policy in this format will apply to all GSI swim meets from now on, except All Junior and the Gippsland Championships where all swimmers exhibiting disqualifiable errors (regardless of age) are DQ’d.
