Congratulations to Gippsland clubs, coaches, parents and swimmers for a wonderful three-day event. A big “well done” and thank you to the Sale swimming club who hosted our Championship event. Whilst the weather presented a mixed bag of rain and cold (Sunday) and heat Monday, the competition was hot all weekend! We thank our local officials for three days of thoughtful officiating. Special thanks to Jacqueline Madden, GSI President and Gippsland Championships Technical Director.
Special congratulations to GSI members who were acknowledged with awards through the weekend. Service Awards were given to Dan and Lisa Auteri. Lisa has been the GSI Announcer locally, at Countries and in Melbourne and she and Dan have worked on improving the sound system owned by the District. Lisa is also the trophy, medal and ribbon officer for GSI. Dan has supported the district as a starter, but also as a go-to person for all manner of needs. Lisa and Dan are the kind of people that keep community sport running.
Gippsland Swimming Inc Life Memberships were awarded to Len Haney, Heather Haney and Michael Mihaly. All three are valued GSI Officials and have been active in supporting the district through many years of Country Championship hosting and Gippsland Championship events. Their valued support has made a difference to the success of our District and we congratulate and thank them.
